On Friday, January 12th the 8th grade students of Bala Cynwyd Middle School will be packing bags for Lucy Belle's Rainbow with items they have collected. This project is to commemorate the Martin Luther King Day of Service. The Lower Merion School District has a long history of Day of Service participation. We are honored to be a part of this effort. This event would not be possible without Georgine Heibeck at BCMS as well as our sponsor, School Specialty Supplies. School Specialty donated 200 sketchbooks and watercolor kits. Also a big thank you to all the students, families, faculty and administration student at BCMS. We cannot do this without you!
Local heroes took center stage at a very special Phillies Charities, Inc. Holiday Giving Party. The event saluted dozens of local charities and organizations making an impact in the community, and also recognized those who were selected to receive a 2017 Phillies Charities, Inc. grant. This past year alone, over $1.2 million was awarded by Phillies Charities, Inc. to charitable organizations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and in the communities of the Phillies spring training and minor league affiliates. Among those attending the event included Phillies’ Manager Gabe Kapler, General Manager Matt Klentak, President Andy MacPhail, Chairman David Montgomery, Chairman Emeritus Bill Giles, Managing Partner John Middleton, Partner Jim Buck, former President & Senior Advisor Pat Gillick, Senior Advisor to the General Manager Larry Bowa, and Phillies Charities, Inc. President John Weber. Also taking part were broadcasters Tom McCarthyand Gregg Murphy, as well as Phillies Director of Public Affairs Scott Palmer, the Phillies Ballgirls and many more front office members. Lucy Belle’s Rainbow was thrilled to be chosen as a 2017 grant recipient. Also thrilled to mingle with the Phillies front office (Larry Bowa!) and some amazing charities. We were truly humbled to be among such great company. The Phillies rolled out the red carpet, The Philly Phanatic and a jazz band. Lucy’s mom and grandfather were in attendance. Bev Rusoff and Christine Cavalier-Purpura created some amazing centerpieces for the event. Thank you, Phillies, for this amazing opportunity. Lucy Belle's Rainbow had an amazing morning helping Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in the 2017 Lemon Walk. We especially love and appreciate the photo of Lucy in the hero’s alley during the final stretch of the walk. Thank you to everyone who braved the cold and ran/walked for a cure!
We are proud to announce that Lucy Belle's Rainbow has received a $10,000 dollar grant from the Philadelphia Phillies! We are so grateful and thank for helping us on our mission to create for a cure!

Meet Macy Bronte. Macy chose to help continue Lucy’s legacy by choosing Lucy Belle’s Rainbow as her Mitzvah project. Macy hails from Narberth, Pennsylvania and is a seventh grader at Welsh Valley Middle School.
Macy learned about Lucy from one of Lucy’s seventh grade teachers, Moira Messick. Lucy was in treatment her entire seventh grade year and Moira made seventh grade a great year for her. She thrived in her classroom. Moira also worked with Lucy’s family and was completely present during the awful period when Lucy became very sick and later died. Through Moira and Moira’s daughter Kate, Macy came to know Lucy even though the two girls have never met. Macy was drawn to Lucy and Lucy’s story and decided that Lucy’s story needed telling. She incorporated her in all aspects of her ceremony – from the invitations to her Torah speech. She collected donations and art supplies and questioned why things like this even happen. It is a lot for a kid to absorb, the bad things of this world. Macy decided that despite the bad thing that happened, something good was coming from it. A tiny drop of Lucy was being placed in every person that Macy told. And those parts were uniting to help kids with cancer, something Lucy felt very strongly about. Because of Macy, Lots of children are going to be able to do something completely normal. They will get to create art and take their minds off treatment, if only for a moment. A drop of Lucy is going into each one of those bags and to each one of those kids. Thank you, Macy, for your work to honor Lucy and to help kids with life threatening illnesses make art and smile. We have teamed up with The Mudroom to present "The Summer of Art Lovin'". For the months of May, June and July, The Mudroom is accepting donations for Lucy Belle's Rainbow.
