On January 17th, Bala Cynwyd Middle School will be hosting their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Each grade selected an organization and the 8th grade class chose Lucy Belle's Rainbow. There are plenty of amazing organizations taking part in the annual MLK Day of Service, so please consider all of the organizations! If you decide to donate to Lucy Belle's Rainbow, we will be accepting donations both to the middle school and from our Amazon Wishlist. With these donations, students will pack the bags to be delivered to CHOP and create handmade notes for the children in the cancer ward. We will be accepting...
- 64 box of crayons
- Washable marker sets
- Watercolor sets
- Sticker books
- Colored pencil sets
- Model magic and/or playdoh
- 9x12'' Sketchbooks
Click here to view our Amazon Wishlist!
Please remember that all donations must be in their original packaging due to the sensitive condition of the patients!

Here is the information for the other organizations involved!
The Joy of Sox (Grade Six)
The Joy of Sox began in Philadelphia, but it now aims to provide new socks to every homeless person in the U.S. every year. With the donations, students will size, sort and box socks.
What to Donate:
- New socks

Angels In Motion (Grade Seven)
Angels in Motion delivers “blessings bags” of snacks and information resources to the homeless population in Philadelphia on a weekly basis. AIM also holds bi-monthly meetings for the community to spread awareness about the disease of addiction and offers support to families, friends, and loved ones that have been affected by this disease. With the donations, students will sort donations, pack blessing bags, make encouragement notes, and prepare plastic bags to be up-cycled for sleeping mats.
What to Donate:
- Plastic bags (the type at grocery stores)
- Snack items for Blessing Bags (individually wrapped non-perishable snacks)

Providence Animal Shelter
Eighth grade students will also be making dogs toys for the Providence Animal Shelter. Donations will also be accepted! Please send donations to room 109 of BCMS.
